Tips on how to take a good picture of your favorite pooch!

On Thursday, our Glendora Camera Club was "calling all dogs" to get both indoor and outdoor portraits taken of man's best friend.

Tip #1: learn the dogs name and say hello!

Tip #2: get down on their level instead of shooting from overhead.

Tip #3: use treats to reward good sitting and staying behaviors.

Tip #4: have the owner stand nearby to capture their pups attention.

Tip #5: if calling the dogs name doesn't work, try common key words like "treats" or "go for a walk". And if all else fails, make your best kitty noises or whistle.

Tip #6: sometimes dogs need to be tired out to sit still enough for a photo session. Let the owner run or play them out so they are ready to calm down. (Plus if they are panting it looks like they're smiling!)

Tip #7: when indoors, put your dog up on a table to keep them at eye level and to ensure they stay in one place without a leash on.

Tip #8: never touch or pet a dog without the owners permission. Some dogs get very protective of their owner and may nip or bite a stranger that tries to pet them.

Tip #9: try close up and full body photos of your dog to get a good variety of shots then editing after in color or black and white.

Tip #10: get the owner in the picture with their companion for a memory to treasure forever!
